Look at those swollen feet and legs! Paisley is ready for us to bring him a baby sister:
09/01/2011- We headed down to Marion around 6:00 PM on Thursday and went to eat a good meal at Red Lobster. We then went to Target and Walmart to waste some time and pick up a few last minute things. Around ten we got to the hospital and soon got admitted. After I was admitted they started giving me some kind of pill to soften my cervix.
09/02/2011- At 7:20 AM the doctor came in and broke my water and at 8:30 AM started me on pitocin. I started out at 2-3cm and never got any farther than that. I went through three bags of pitocin which is apparently a lot. I had contractions but never felt them. After hours and hours of waiting and never really progressing they decided they needed to do a C-section. I got really swollen down there so when they put the catheter in it took three nurses to find where it needed to go. Can you say ouch!!! I was so nervous, I really didn't want a C-section but they said that I just wasn't progressing enough and my pelvis wasn't at the right angle or something. This is the last picture before Amelia arrived:
They wheeled me into the operating room and started the spinal block. Surprisingly it didn't even hurt that much. After my whole bottom half felt like a ton of bricks they laid me down on the table and I waited for Josh to get into the room. He sat down next to me and at 4:08 PM our beautiful daughter Amelia Grace Cheek was born. She weighed 8 pounds and measured 21 inches long. Simply perfect!
Josh stayed by my side as long as possible and then they brought her over to us. She was gorgeous! I gave her a kiss and looked at her for a little bit and then they took her to get her all nice and clean. Josh went with her to the nursery and I got put back together lol. Such an amazing daddy already!
All went really well except that I was nauseous. By the time I got to the recovery room I was throwing up. After being there an hour they brought me to my room where my parents and Josh and Amelia were waiting. Still felt nausous but got to hold my beautiful little girl.
More family came and visited and by the time they were getting ready to leave Amelia left them all a surprise:
Daddy got to change her first poopy diaper, well and then some. I was so swollen everywhere and hadn't ate in over 24 hours so when I did finally get to eat something at about 3 in the morning it was amazing even if it was just some crackers. After a rough nights sleep and no luck on the breast feeding (she took formula) it was time for Day 2.
09/03/2011- Good morning everybody!
Nope still tired!
We spent the day trying to adjust. She still hadn't caught on to breastfeeding but we kept trying. That night we got our celebration dinner. It was amazing. Steak, smashed potatoes, and asparagus, rolls, shrimp cocktail. For dessert chocolate covered strawberries and cake and sparkling grape juice to drink.
They kept her in the nursery that night so that we could get a good nights sleep and they could do her hearing test. We actually slept a whole seven hours straight!
09/04/2011- Around 7:00 AM they brought her back to our room:
We had some breakfast and I did some walking around. We got dressed and got her dressed for her pictures and to go home. Around 11:00 AM after our doctors checked us over we got released! After stopping by Walmart for some pain medication we were finally homeward bound!

She is beautiful and congrats!
